The Quadro P400 (8GB) is set to be the primary entry level graphics choice for those in the graphic industries and Computer-aided Design (CAD) alike. The NVIDIA Quadro P400 is a graphics card built on a 14nm process.
Based on the GP107 graphics processor, the card supports DirectX 12.0. The chip is an average size for its type at an area of 132 mm² and 3,300 million transistors. The NVIDIA Quadro P400 also features 256 shading units, 16 texture mapping units and 16 ROPs. The graphic card also has a 2,048 MB GDDR5 memory which gives the GPU an operating frequency of 1070 MHz. This operating frequency can be boosted up to 1170 MHz when memory is running at 1752 MHz.
With an added single-slot cooling solution, the graphics card measures only 145 mm long. While the Quadro P400 replaces the last Maxwell based Quadro product in the Quadro lineup, the performance has drastically improved. The architecture is well designed, and clockspeeds have doubled. Although the P400 loses a mini-DisplayPort, the value of this device is considered a win for everyone in the computer aided design industry.
While NVIDIA has a reputation for releasing GPUs better than its last product, the Quadro P400 is more impressive than usual as it is very powerful for such an efficient card.
