Wacom Cintiq 13HD is a great graphics tablet that offers everything professional users require. It has a good integrated display which helps the user so they do not have to keep one eye on separate computer monitor. It is as close to real drawing without going for a pen and a paper possible. Though the Wacom Cintiq 13HD looks a bit like the offspring of a Cintiq 12WX as well as intuos 5, it has huge changes due to advanced technological improvements.
What are the Wacom Cintiq 13HD features?
The Wacom Cintiq 13HD is much more portable than the old model. As a matter of fact, it weighs 1.2kg rather than 2.4kg, that is about the same as weight as an ultrabook or a larger tablet. Thus holding it in your arm and at the same time drawing with your other hand is completely comfortable. It is both a display and a digital interface and not a computer in itself. It does not have an internal battery. You are required to connect to a laptop or a desktop for this product to function. This process is made simple since it uses a clever tri-cable and it has a proprietary sockets on its side in which a cable plugs that splits off to three wires. One wire is the USB, another a HDMI and finally the last is the power. The HDMI is meant to power the display while the USB acts as an interface for the Wacom pen.
Wacom Cintiq 13HD comes with a stand that enables it to sit in three raised positions of 20, 30, and 50 degrees, and it is also made to sit flat on its back. This position is made possible because it is designed with three different plastic flaps that slot into grooves found on the tablet’s rear. The stand is actually light in weight and the rear part is made of aluminium to make it strong. It has a 13.3” display running at a high resolution of 1920 x 1080p which is not notable by tablet standard. The product is rated 700:1 contrast and 250nits-brightness and it uses an IPS that is fitted with a matt finish. Wacom Cintiq 13HD offers 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity and an effective stylus pen which is almost similar in design to that of the Intuos 5. It also features four programmable buttons and an eight-way pad wheel. However, these features rely on existing keyboard shortcuts for them to operate, thus you need to spend about one or two hours optimizing what they do.
Ideally, Wacom Cintiq 13HD fits simply to any workspace and can be used by both the right-handed and left handed artists. The product is both Mac OS X and Windows compatible. It is a tool that makes sense for most professionals enabling their creative expression.
